The 12th LGBT Pride March took place in Lisbon this Saturday afternoon focusing on the Liberty, Equality and Solidarity.
This Lisbon was decorated with the colors of the rainbow Rainbow in streets filled with people, music, and slogans claiming a better society both in terms of attitudes and also legal terms.
Gathering at Príncie Real, the marchers walked around, meet friends, some long-standing, which will be hugging and giving a warm welcome, some not seen in a while. And there were also many anonymous persons proud to join the initiative. On the grass we found the banners of some associations with messages that seek to warn that not everything is well.
The police informed that there where schedules to keep, and then the 12th Pride March of Lisbon started, lining up the different cars and people between them, with the associations presenting their banners marking the different sections.
After descending the D. Pedro V, the paraders surprised the terrace of Brasileira and the Chiado. In the Rua do Carmo a stop to read the manifesto, with the sound truck near the Rossio and the end of the march almost in the Armazéns do Chiado Shopping... problem: given the length of the street there were many who were on the march but were unable to hear the reading of the manifesto.
Then the parade moved on to Praça da Figueira, where some of the organizations took the floor calling aloud to the attention of passersby and the human mass slowly started to dissipate. The organization tried to find a way with Lisbon City Hall to have a small stage with sound to animate the end of the march but it did not happen, and that was missed.
