Yesterday the second edition of the March Against Homophobia and Transphobia took place in in Coimbra.
This year's meeting point was on the south bank, near the Convent of Santa Clara. The march started with little more than a hundred people but gathered supporters during the walk and in the end it would probably have the triple of that number. Interestingly the end of the march was also a place of religious roots: the Church of Santa Cruz in the center of Coimbra.
Felt by some participants was the lack of large rainbow flags in the event. However this issue did not make the march less lively, the slogans, and the choreography were present and in the end we had the organization happy for another year bringing together so many around a cause that is of all.
The event was organized by Association of Brazilian Students and Researchers in Coimbra, Não Te Prives Association - Group of sexual rights, Janela Indiscreta Association, SOS Racism, rede ex aequo, Bacchus Republic, Republic of Marias Loureiro, Human Rights Section of Associação Académica de Coimbra and also had the support of over a dozen groups/entities/organizations including PortugalGay.pt.
The March Against Homophobia and Transphobia in Coimbra, gathered in this edition about 300 people, that have already marked in their diaries the 17th May 2012, we will never be too many men and women who march for a better society.
