Descrito como o Stonewall Australiano, este documentário relata os eventos ocorridos em 1994, na discoteca Tasty, de Melbourne, numa noite em que 463 clientes ficaram brutalmente reféns da polícia durante horas, obrigados a despirem-se perante as autoridades e examinados com luvas de borracha, num acto que se viria a provar como cruelmente homofóbico. Os clientes do Tasty levaram posteriormente a cabo um acto judicial contra a polícia do Condado de Victoria, acabando por vencer, naquele que se tornou num caso histórico e exemplar na Austrália. Este excelente, rigoroso e, por vezes, bem-humorado documentário foi apresentado em antestreia, no dia 17 de Maio na Fnac Chiado, a propósito do Dia Mundial de Luta Contra a Homofobia.

Described as the Australian Stonewall, this documentary depicts an event that took place in 1994, at Tasty, a gay club in Melbourne, where, one evening, 463 patrons were brutally held hostage for hours, inside the club, by the local police, forced to strip down by the authorities and examined with rubber gloves, in an act to be proven as cruelly homophobic. The club punters united and filed a report against the Victoria County Police, having won that same judicial process, in what was considered an historical and exemplary act in Australia. This fine, accurate and sometimes funny was presented in avant-première, on the 17th May at the Fnac Chiado, integrated in the World Day against Homophobia.

Albrecht Becker (1906-2002) foi um dos últimos sobreviventes do plano Nazi de dizimar os homossexuais, que se iniciou em 1933 com a implementação do Parágrafo 175. Aprisionado em Nuremberga de 1935 a 1938, Becker decide então alistar-se no exército (tal como relatado no documentário de 2000, Paragraph 175, de Epstein e Friedmann, já exibido no Festival). Na frente russa, começa a tirar fotografias. Depois da guerra, dedica-se ao seu trabalho como cenógrafo de cinema, trabalhando principalmente em comédias musicais. Becker começou a 'decorar' o seu corpo em 1943, através da arte da tatuagem e do piercing, documentando fotograficamente as suas progressivas transformações. O realizador francês Lebrun dá ênfase, neste filme, ao corpo de Becker (com quem trabalhou durante alguns anos) através de fotografias que se assemelham a paisagens - paisagens de um corpo que, pelas suas mutações e pela sua história, deixou uma marca no seu século.

House of Tomorrow is a metaphoric view on identity and a psychological analysis of the reality of gay identity. The house of tomorrow is the house of one's identity, it does not need to be a concrete house or building, but represents a secure and protected place where people can stand for what they are and represent - a human being. And this human may have many identities in different fields, the sexual identity represents only one among many others.

In the early 1950s Kjell discovered he was gay. Love had to be looked for abroad. Since he was good-looking, intelligent, and charming, he soon became popular in St. Tropez, Cannes, Paris, and London. However, only brief affairs came out of this. Today, time and opportunities have passed him by. Kjell is past his sell-by date, as he puts it himself. Yet he still dreams, but his dreams are like Gloria Swanson's in Sunset Boulevard. With bittersweet charm he tells his life story, in words and pictures from his past career as a young model - up to his present situation as a disabled man knitting and watching videos, thinking about his past.

Além destes entraves que a difícil situação económica, social e política promovem, há também uma verdadeira alegria de viver "juvenil" e uma capacidade criativa e de iniciativa bem viva. Do diálogo cultural e da promoção do intercâmbio juvenil, resultam atitudes que podem ajudar a suprimir ou atenuar as marginalizações sociais e o desalento cultural. Human Rights and the search of happiness
When we approach the youth issue in the African countries, namely those of the North, we associate it with frustration, marginalization, and social, cultural, and sexual misery, so as religious and political fanaticism. But the youth doesn't resume to this. Beyond these boundaries endorsed by a tough political, social and economic situation, lays a true "youthful" way of life and a lively creative capacity and spirit of initiative. From cultural dialogue and the promotion of juvenile interchange, derive attitudes which may help suppress or attenuate social marginalization and cultural dismay.
"I consider homosexuality as merely another form of sexuality, which has been repressed for years. Even if taken on discreetly, that was the practice. City of Happiness is a documentary about the situation of young Algerian men after ten years of terrorism and economical decline in their country, represented by the English student Nadir, his family, his fellow students and friends.

Duas jovens lésbicas vêem a sua relação a ser posta em causa com a chegada de um pénis para uma delas. Apesar de todos os esforços, o novo companheiro parece não querer funcionar... Pelo menos não da forma que elas desejariam. No sentido de salvar o amor que sentem uma pela outra, só lhes resta uma solução: recuperar a sua homossexualidade.

Two young lesbians see their relationship stir apart with the arrival of a penis for one of them. Despite all the efforts, the newcomer won't work... At least not the way they wished it to. To rescue their mutual love, there's only one thing left to do: find their homosexuality again.

A cinco de Junho de 2004, a cidade de Bègles vê-se no centro de um turbilhão político, jurídico e mediático sem precedentes. Noël Mamère casou dois homens. Pela primeira vez na história da República Francesa, dois jovens gays, Stéphane Chapin e Bertrand Charpentier trocaram alianças perante o Presidente da Câmara e perante todo o país. Jean-Michel Vennemani filmou a intimidade dos dois noivos nas três semanas antes do casamento. Por sua vez, Yves Jeuland acompanhou Noël Mamère, os seus colaboradores e advogados. Mamère pretendia lançar o debate político sobre o casamento homossexual. Conseguiu mais do que esperava: retiradas de apoio, ameaças de morte e pressões políticas. Divertido, violento e emotivo, este documentário é um importante contributo a este mesmo debate ao desvendar as premissas que se escondem por detrás deste acto simbólico: a posta em causa dos princípios do sacrossanto matrimónio, tal qual é ritualizado pela Igreja.

On the 5th June 2004, the small town of Bègles is thrown to the centre of an unprecedented political, juridical and media turmoil. Noël Mamère celebrated the matrimony between two men. For the first time in the history of the French Republic, two young gays, Stéphane Chapin and Bertrand Charpentier, exchanged vows in front of the Mayor and the whole country. Jean-Michel Vennemani recorded the two grooms' intimacy in the three weeks before the marriage. On the other hand, Yves Jeuland accompanied the daily struggles of Noël Mamère, his collaborators and lawyers. Mamère intended to launch the political debate on gay marriage. He achieved more than he expected: sponsorship backdrops, death threats and political pressure. Funny, violent and emotional, this documentary is an important contribute to this same debate by unveiling the premises hidden under this symbolic act: the questioning of the sacrosanct principles of marriage, as ritualized by the church.

Nicolas Luhel, um jovem oficial da judiciária, chega a Plouescat, uma aldeia no norte de Finisterra. A polícia quer esclarecer as circunstâncias que envolvem a morte de um adolescente, numa queda num porto. A mãe do rapaz acusa o seu ex-marido, Serge Tanguy, de ter perpetrado o crime, mas o motivo do crime permanece por esclarecer. A violência da tragédia, a força da natureza e a solidão acabam por despertar em Nicolas ansiedades e desejos, antes ocultos. Fragilizado pelo suicídio da testemunha principal, ele deixa-se seduzir pela estranha fascinação exercida por Tanguy em todos os que o rodeiam.

Nicolas Luhel, a young officer in the judiciary police, arrives in Plouescat, a village in North Finistère. The police wants to make clear the circumstances surrounding an adolescent's death, a fall from a nearby port's dam. The boy's mother accuses her ex- husband, Serge Tanguy, of being the perpetrator of the crime, but the motive of the murder remains unclear. The violence of the tragedy, the wild landscapes, and the loneliness soon wake in Nicolas unknown anxieties and drives. Made fragile by the principal witness' suicide he lets himself be contaminated by the turbid fascination that Tanguy exerts on those that are around him.

Through a collection of interviews with Speedo lovers, such as Mark, the man who owns 5.000 pairs, and Kevyn who co-ordinates his Speedos with the rest of his clothing and accessories; swimwear designers Kevin Hennah (Loaded), Duncan McLean (Funky Trunks) and Peter Travis, who designed the original racing brief for Speedo back in 1960; DNA Magazine editor, Andrew Creagh, La Trobe University expert David Wain, and drag queen Glenda Waverley; along with candid observations from the director, Tim Hunter, and plenty of eye candy, this documentary explores the appeal of these minimal pieces of Lycra, their role in body image, and their inherent link to gay men and gay culture. Beyond competition swimming and diving, are Speedos just a gay thing or something more? Is it a fetish, legitimate sportswear, or just well-packed lunch?

Search for Truth sustenta que o desejo em inspeccionar o nosso próprio rabo é virtualmente impossível, daí que a fantasia tenha frequentemente sido encetada no desejo de inspeccionar o dos outros. Numa sequência famosa de A Laranja Mecânica, Alex baixa as calças para o inspector prisional, numa prova do homoerotismo inerente às relações de poder. Nesta curta-metragem, Dave Burns procura evocar a universalidade da fantasia dos rapazes hetero em procurar o auto-conhecimento através dos outros rapazes. Residirá a verdade no próprio corpo? O que será mesmo visível a olho nu? O que significa saber-se o que quer que seja? Esta instalação visa evocar estas questões citando o aviso de Friedrich Nietzsche sobre a busca pelo monstruoso: que "se olharmos prolongadamente para o abismo, o abismo acaba por olhar de volta para nós."

Search for Truth insists that the desire to inspect one's own ass is virtually impossible, so the fantasy has more often been played out in the desire to inspect other's. Perhaps more famously, in 'A Clockwork Orange', Alex drops his pants for the prison inspector, a display of the homo-eroticism inherent in power relationships. In this short-film Dave Burns wants to evoke the universality of the straight boy's fantasy of self knowledge through other boys. Does truth even reside in the body? What is visible to the naked eye? What does it mean to know anything? This installation is meant to evoke these issues while also being attentive to Friedrich Nietzsche's warning about looking for the monstrous: that "if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you."

Patriotic é uma meditação sobre a intimidade, a dependência e o controlo. Dado que a comida e o dar de comer são dos mais primordiais dos intercâmbios humanos, a troca de comida é uma troca simbólica de amor, que carrega em si todo um potencial de controlo abusivo. With virtually no dialogue and few gestures, the intimacy between the two men is hard to categorize - lovers, friends or family?

Hervé, de 37 anos, tem sido gigolo desde a sua adolescência. Agora aspira a uma carreira mais serena, mas, habituado à prostituição e à desordem, opta pela via do excesso para atingir os seus fins. Assim nasce este filme, marcado pelo nonsense, estruturado em três partes, onde HPG, em todo o seu esplendor tragicómico, rouba o lugar a um professor de teatro e lecciona perante um conjunto de alunos destemidos, acabando de volta às ruas. Um filme sobre a vingança e sobre o forte desejo de reconhecimento.
