Dozens of people demonstrated today in Santiago de Compostela, Galicia, asking for the filing of the case against Laura Bugallo, National Secretary of Social Policies in Galicia.

The protest action was called by the Forum of the Galician Imigration and was supported by several other NGOs. Laura Bugallo is accused of having forged documents to regularize the situation of four immigrants, and the action was scheduled for today to coincide with the testimony of Laura Bugallo and the delivery of supporting documentation for selveral ONGs from Galicia and other countries.

Laura told the media that she has done work in the area for 19 years and helped over 620 people in the CIG (galicia labor union) since 2008 where she would been committed the alleged forgeries.

Laura was detained for 24 hours on 26 May 2009 after four immigrants detained by the police have claimed that Laura had provided them invoices and receipts without, however, no further evidence has been produced against Laura addition to these testimonies to the authorities.

Several demonstrators reinforced the idea that Laura has done excelent work, "within the law" to support undocumented migrants and this process is unacceptable.
