Arraial Pride 2005

Photo Report
After the National LGBT Pride March, the pioneer Arraial Pride happens at night. The first large scale Pride celebration in Portugal (this year was the 9th edition) is organized by ILGA Portugal association.

The first editions took place in the city centre, but in the last few years the Lisbon City Hall (that provides all the logistics for the event, including sound, stage and lights) decided that the party should happen in Calhau Park, in the corner of the infamous Monsanto Park (known for hustling activities) near the City Zoo. This change had some impact on the number of participants (about 10'000 persons) that has remained more a less stable, contradicting the trend at the previous locations (when the participants steadily increased every year).

The party is free, has several booths from associations and bars, and drag queen shows lighten up the event.
